Canonical Code

The code below shows the syntax for canonicalization using rel="canonical".

This is the correct way to tell search engine such as Google that the URL it points to is the original content that must be considered for indexing.

This can be put to use for two purposes listed below:

1. To prevent on-site duplicate content issues.
2. To prevent somebody else from claiming ownership of your original work.
